Ice Cream, Gelato and Forte Gelato
Gelato in Italian means “frozen” and when speaking of frozen desserts it means ice cream. The ingredients in gelato and ice cream are basically the same but used in different amounts and made with different methods.
When compared to ice cream, authentic gelato:
1. Is served at a warmer temperature and displayed like Italian art.
2. Has a denser consistency because it contains less air.
3. Contains less fat.
4. Is made with flavors that are more fruit and nut based and less cookie and candy based.
5. is ice cream with passion!
Forte was formulated very carefully to maintain the traditional style, proportions and composition of authentic Italian gelato. There are however some special differences that set Forte apart.
Forte Gelato is:
1. Higher in protein – Formulated with our proprietary protein blend, Forte has up to 5x the protein of regular gelato or ice cream!
2. Even lower in fat – Forte has only 2.5 grams of fat per serving compared with 8 grams of fat in gelato and between 10 to 20 grams of fat per serving in ice cream.
3. Exceptionally pure and natural – Forte uses only rBST-free milk, rBST-free cream, rBST-free milk proteins, organic agave nectar instead of corn syrup, and cage-free egg yolks.
Yes! Forte Gelato’s ingredients are gluten free, however Forte is not made in a certified gluten free facility.
Forte Gelato is an all natural product and contains Milk and Eggs. Forte is crafted in a facility that uses wheat, tree nuts and peanuts.
Yes! All Forte Gelato products are certified kosher, (cRc) certification #102106.
Forte Storage and Serving
Just like ice cream, Forte Gelato must be stored in your home freezer which is preset to about 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Unlike ice cream, which is served from a 0 degree Fahrenheit dipping cabinet, authentic gelato is displayed and served from an Italian gelato case that maintains a temperature of around 15 degrees Fahrenheit. This slightly warmer temperature is what gives gelato its soft body and allows its beautiful, pure flavors to come through.
To achieve this authentic gelato experience at home, Forte should be allowed to rest and soften at room temperature for approximately 10 minutes prior to serving.
